Engineering & Water Resources, Inc. Projects
This project included extensive field soil data collection, hydrologic modeling, nutrient mass balances, water quality modeling, economic analyses, crop production projections and review of dairy cow nutrition needs to quantify phosphorus imports, exports, internal cycling and surface water discharges. This data was used to identify and evaluate over three dozen candidate Best Management Practices (BMPs) to correct phosphorus imbalances and reduce the potential for discharge to surface waters of the State. A total of 19 dairies in the Okeechobee Watershed were evaluated. The final project deliverable included a specific plan for each dairy that was submitted to the FDACS for use in securing funding appropriations for final design and construction of the selected BMPs. |
